Sunday Brunch is Bliss at Marigot Bay Resort & Marina

It seems like Sunday brunch has become "a thing" in the last decade, but would you believe the first appearance of that two-meal mashup in popular culture was back in 1895?

According to Smithsonian Magazine, an article in Hunter's Weekly by British author Guy Beringer suggested abandoning heavy, post-church meals in favour of lighter fare served late in the morning, hence the clever wordplay.

"Brunch is cheerful, sociable and inciting," he write. "It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week...'

The Sunday brunch tradition really began to stick in 1930s America, influenced by glamourous, non church-going Hollywood stars, New York delicatessens and social change that meant working mothers needed one day a week off from cooking for the family.

Fast forward to this age of fast-paced clock-racing and daily commitments that sprawl all over the days of the week, Beringer's wise words now ring even truer, so in 2020, why not plan to make Sunday the best day of the week again.

According to Culinary Director Daniel Echasseuriau, taking time out for a leisurely Sunday Brunch at Hurricane Hole is the perfect way to kick back and reconnect with family and friends after the rigours of the week.

“Our new international a la carte brunch menu has something for every taste, from healthy salads to Saint Lucian Creole breakfast to freshly cooked Brioche French Toast,” reports Chef Daniel.

Classics like Eggs Royal and Steak Frites are best served with an icy Mimosa or spicy Bloody Mary from the classic brunch cocktail selection, while the wines are fruity and fresh, ice cold and bubbly.

The ambiance at Hurricane Hole is chilled out and perfect for the whole family, as sailboats sweep past on the bay and Marina staff busy about at the docks. Open to all from 11am to 3pm every Sunday, get here by land or by sea!
